    Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers wins BIMCO Education and Training Award

    Institute honoured for its ongoing commitment in supporting professional maritime education around the world
    London 19 November 2015.

    The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, the maritime industry’s only body dedicated to professional education, has won the BIMCO Education and Training Award 2015.

    The Institute scooped the award in recognition of its investment in new learning, growth in student and graduate numbers and innovative teaching techniques.

    In 2014 the Institute took the decision to double its examination programme and for the first time organised two series of exams inside 12 months. In the first year, more than 4,000 students sat some 6,000 exams in more than 100 exam centres around the world.

    The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers’ Annual Dry Bulk & Commodities Conference

    The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) Canada Branch hosted the second annual Dry Bulk & Commodities Conference to a sold-out crowd against the stunning back drop of the Vancouver Convention Center. Doubling the attendance from its’ inaugural year and despite today’s challenging shipping markets, the event was well supported by local sponsors and featured top industry representatives speakers.
    Dena Rantz, ICS Canada Branch chair notes: “It is important for us as a maritime community on the west coast, to provide opportunities and events, which brings together our local industry to share knowledge and network.”
    The speakers at the conference focused on commodities; including grain, potash, coal, and logs, with an insightful overview of the current dry bulk market and its future outlook. The conference was followed by the ICS annual Christmas Pub night to thank all those that support the ICS year-round.…

    BIMCO includes the Institute in its winners of the 2015 Awards

    BIMCO’s awards are intended to celebrate excellence in shipping. This year, they were presented at BIMCO’s Annual Conference in Hamburg on 18 November 2015.

    The BIMCO Education & Training Award, sponsored by Spectec, was awarded to the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
    The judges chose the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers as the winner of this award because: “…it fulfils a unique role; providing global, professional shipping qualifications, holding all students to an equally high standard, but ensuring none are left behind.”

    The Institute Hong Kong Branch at the Asian Logistics and Maritime Conference 2015

    A delegation of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers - Hong Kong branch attended the ALMC-Asian Logistics and Maritime Conference 2015 to promote us as a professional body. The Institute HK branch was the only professional body listed in the organiser brochure and displayed on the panels with other maritime partner.     Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers open evening

    The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers hosted an open evening in London, Chennai, Dubai, Hong Kong and Limassol on Wednesday 14th October 2015 for potential students who were considering taking the Institute's courses and exams. The open evening was not only a great opportunity for prospective students to find out more about the courses on offer and entry requirements but they also had the chance to meet local tutors and other students and learn more about what the Institute offers.…

    ANZ bespoke chartering course and workshop

    Following the success of the first Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers' Australia and New Zealand bespoke chartering course and workshop held in Melbourne on 31 August and 1 September we followed up by holding the same course again but this time in Brisbane on 19-20 October. There were eleven delegates (see photograph below) from several companies including shipowners, shipbrokers, mining companies, agri-oil traders and gas companies. …

    A partnership is formed

    The Trustees of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers’ Educational Trust have recently announced the signing of a service agreement with the Maritime London Officer Cadet Scheme (MLOCS) under which the Institute will provide administrative assistance to the MLOCS and in particular launch an internet driven initiative to bring current and past MLOCS Cadets together and at the same time introduce them to the opportunities for furthering their knowledge of the industry through Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers’ membership.…
