Posted on Monday, February 19, 2024

On February 13, 2024, The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers - Middle East branch hosted a Networking Event at Dusit Thani Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. The event was a resounding success, attracting nearly 80 shipping professionals from the region.

Captain Harihar Prasad moderated the event, with support from esteemed panellists, including Ms. Franky George and Mr. Michael Fenger. The interactive session allowed them to address numerous questions posed by the engaged audience.

Our presenters highlighted the critical role of managing risks and ensuring adequate liability protection from both chartering and operational viewpoints. They delved into the complexities involved in managing claims and resolving disputes stemming from charter party agreements, issues related to cargo, and maritime incidents. Additionally, the importance of Protection & Indemnity (P&I) clubs in offering legal support and assistance to their affiliates in these scenarios was discussed.

The evening's High-Tea sponsorship was graciously provided by Essence Shipping LLC. Sachin Shetty, their representative, elaborated on the significance of their continued support for ICS. The group has consistently sponsored events for several years, underscoring their commitment to the industry.

In addition to the insightful discussions and sponsor acknowledgments, the event also marked the induction of a new Member, Basil Abraham, MICS, who was warmly welcomed into the fold by the branch.
