End of Year Networking Event & Dinner

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers - Middle East branch conducted the End of Year Networking Dinner and Social Quiz on 14th December 2022 at the Grand Excelsior Hotel, Al Barsha, Dubai. It was attended by over 60 shipping professionals from the region.

The event started with a networking session. This was followed by an excellent presentation by Mr. Mohammad Arslan Khan, Director Sales - Hapag Lloyd Middle East, on the topic 'Containerize or not to Containerize'. The presentation covered highlights of the container trade in 2022 including the capacity and demand landscape in the coming year. Replacement of fuel inefficient ships by modern environmentally friendly ones will be a dominant factor in the near future. The order books and other economic indicators affecting the market were also discussed.

The presentation was followed by an interactive Kahoot Social Quiz on shipping and general knowledge. The branch also honored Capt Behram Surty FICS for his services to the branch.  Capt Surty has been one of the guiding lights of ICS ME branch since its inception in 1996 and has played vital roles as Vice President and President of the Branch.
