Education and Training Committee Meeting and Workshops in Liverpool

Posted on Monday, July 11, 2016

On the 14th of June the Education and Training Committee travelled to Liverpool to hold a three day meeting which consisted of two days of workshops with a committee meeting on the third day.  The committee members attending were from around the globe, as is the norm with Institute committees in general, and we saw members from East Africa, India, Ireland, and Dubai as well as England attending in person and via Skype.

The committee worked hard discussing the workshop topics, which included development of syllabus translation, FICS promotion process and Tutor Accreditation.

The committee members were invited by the Liverpool branch committee and members to a get together at the Racquet Club in the heart of Liverpool.  This was an informal get together which made it possible to speak with these members of the local shipping community and we all felt that although there is definitely a downturn in business the morale of Liverpool is very positive and they are weathering the storm and looking to the future.

Liverpool has had a huge regeneration project ongoing for a number of years and the infrastructure and amenities are befitting this beautiful and vibrant city.
