ICS -East India Branch Conducts 3rd Annual Conference on "Salvage & Wreck Removal in India"

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, East India Branch conducted its 3rd Annual  Conference on Salvage & Wreck Removal in India on 10th July 2014 at Vivanta by Taj - Connemara, Chennai.

This event was a first of its kind to be held by ICS in Chennai .

Capt.K.G.Ramakrishnan FICS, Past Chairman and Convener of this Conference also acted as Master of Ceremonies and introduced the Chief Guest, Speakers from  various salvage organisations and others.

Capt.R.Venkat , FICS (Chairman) welcomed the audience and chaired the inaugural session.

The Key note speech was delivered by the Nautical Advisor to Government of India Capt.L.K.Panda outlining the challenges faced on the coast and the efforts of the Government of India to protect the coast line.

The event attracted representation from some of the biggest names in salvage today including,

The various sessions were chaired by industry leaders and the senior office bearers of ICS East India Branch including Capt.R. Venkat (FICS) our Chairman and Capt KP Rajagopal (FICS) our Vice Chairman.

The event was well supported and attended by our members and the larger industry including law firms and shipowners, agents and underwriters.

During question and answer sessions, the questions raised by delegates had been answered appropriately by the experts.

The Chairman in his closing remarks had proposed a white paper outlining industry requirements to be taken up with government, through the good offices of the Nautical Advisor and this is being prepared.

The organising of the event was coordinated by M/s Hinode Events who has acted as our event partners.
