About us

Scotland Branch

The Scotland Branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers is, geographically, the largest of the UK Branches and has been an association of the Institute since 1924.

At present, with over 80 members, the Scotland Branch are particularly active in marketing the Institute to all shipbroking disciplines in Scotland and were instrumental in the creation of the Offshore course, which is now a successful part of the Institute's world renowned education syllabus.

The Branch Management Committee meet quarterly and, among other aspects of business, are heavily involved in student development and liaison. As part of its social events calendar, a golf tournament is held every September at which both members and their guests are invited to participated in and, in addition, the Branch hosts a very successful annual dinner in Edinburgh which is usually attended by 350 + members and their guests. As usual, any profit gained at the dinner is gifted to a local maritime charity as well as being used to support the Scotland Branch student network.
