ICS is delighted to invite you to the next webinar in our Members-Only Webinar Series on 2nd April 2026 at 12:00 PM BST. The webinar will last around 45-minutes to 1 hour starting with a 30-minute presentation, entitled 'Pitfalls of a poorly drafted dispute resolution clause', followed by a Q&A.

 

Delivered by Jagmeet Makkar FICS, the presentation will provide attendees with a foundational overview of arbitration law in commercial contracts. This will focus on the role of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in maritime commerce and the critical interaction between the substantive law of the contract and the arbitration agreement.

 

The presentation will also cover:

  • Key scenarios determining the law of the arbitration clause itself
  • Brief analysis of the BIMCO Dispute Resolution Clause 2020/2021 as a contemporary industry benchmark.
