Legal and Regulatory Consequences of Containers Overboard.

BIMCO has recently noted that containers lost at sea represent a potential danger to maritime safety and are a threat to the environment. These losses also have far-reaching legal and marine insurance implications. Within only three months in late 2020 and early this year, almost 3,500 containers were lost in several incidents. This is far above the numbers usually registered for the same period and has raised concern regarding these incidents.
