Baltic Institute - Lecture Series 3 LT

 

The Baltic Exchange and Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers present a series of lectures in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Piraeus and London; intended to support and develop those working in chartering and operations.

Taking place every other month and including lunch where appropriate, lectures are free to employees at Baltic and Institute members. The series is aimed at supporting those developing careers in shipping and encouraging better advocacy across a future generation of industry leaders and is supported by all the major broking houses and a wide cross-section of principals.

 

Lecture 2:

13 Nov: London - 13:00-14:00 Talk by Tony Foster, CIO of Marine capital.

Tony will talk in London on 13 November on:  "Shipping Finance, how asset owners and others with exposure to freight rates raise capital today, how does it affect an owner's chartering decisions as well as related streams; why are we seeing an increasing number of charterer- owner JVs and what motivates these tie ups?"

3 Dec: Piraeus - 18:30 ''The 2020 IMO  Sulphur Regulations. What to know''

Talk by Evangelos Catsampas, Partner, Watson Farley & Williams LLP

Evangelos has 20 years of experience in shipping litigation/dispute resolution (charterparty, bill of lading, shipbuilding contract and MOA disputes), maritime casualties, general commercial litigation/dispute resolution and (non-contentious) contract drafting. He has a diverse practice, working for shipowners, charterers, cargo traders, bunker traders, P&I Clubs and Hull & Machinery insurers.'

27 Nov: Singapore 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm Talk by Kenneth Ng, Director of Digital Services at the Singapore Exchange (SGX). Kenneth will look at the basics of FFAs and how they can be used to manage shipping market volatility and risk.

Kenneth has held various portfolios in commodities and derivatives units covering product development, management and sales.

12:15 - 13:00  Light food and drinks, networking and mingling
13:00 - 14:00  Kenneth will cover the basics of FFA, followed by short Q&A

This event is complimentary for all Baltic and ICS members to attend on a first-come, first-serve basis. All others will need to pay a fee of SGD 100 to attend.
