The London School of Shipping offers an extensive range of face-to-face programmes in commercial shipping disciplines, ideal for new starters or those working in the business looking to further their knowledge in specific industry sectors. The programmes are led by experienced course leaders supported by visiting expert practitioners from the extensive London maritime community.

Maritime World Explained

Description:

An extensive one-day course providing a comprehensive introduction to the shipping industry including discussion sessions, workshops, group activities, games and multi-media presentations. The day provides participants with plenty of opportunity to ask questions, explore concepts and work through practical cases. Includes free copy of Institute coursebook.

Nic Ingle - Executive Director, International Dry Bulk Terminals Group.

Nic was the Executive Director of the International Dry Bulk Terminals Group (DBTG), a unique membership organisation which represents dry bulk terminal owners and operators globally.  He took up this role in 2016 after 5 years as commercial manager at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in London.

Nic started his career at a grain terminal in the UK, specialising in malting barley and milling wheat.  He has a BSc in Maritime Business and Maritime Law and an MSc in International Shipping and Logistics from the University of Plymouth.  He spent 12 years at the UK Department for Transport working in both the maritime and aviation divisions.  In the maritime division he worked on the UK Tonnage Tax scheme and International Conventions, and in the aviation division he specialised in air cargo and in-flight supplies security training.  The cargo security training he wrote was adopted by the European Union in 2010 and remains the European standard today.
