Overview

OPEN DAY - WORLD MAP- October days

This week the last Open Days are taking place in Varna on 2 October and on 5 October in Accra, Lagos and Limassol.

We are still receiving encouraging messages reporting great things from our branches that took part in our global event around the world in September.

The Open day in Canada continues to be a real success. The Branch looks forward to helping prospective students not only to enrol and become Institute students, but also to connect to the industry.

The Open Day in Vancouver was hosted in the BC COS Boardroom - some  attendees were from a local grain trading house and were looking to expand their shipping knowledge base. They arrived early and stayed for nearly two hours, chatting and asking a variety of questions on the benefits of the Institute and the relevance of the exams to their career goals. They were very interested in enrolling as students and left the Open day advising they will take the Foundation Diploma in the April 2019 exam session. They were also interested in attending the Branch Dry Bulk and Commodities conference in November.

The branch also offered two Open Days in Montreal at the offices of two major ship operators, Rio Tinto Marine on September 12th and Fednav International Limited on September 18th. Presentations were given on the background and activities of the Institute, on the various qualifications and methods of study available and details such as cost, duration, etc. Eight staff from each company attended. Everyone seemed to appreciate having the presentation delivered at their office!

The Middle East Branch tripled the appointments in Dubai organizing 3 events:

Mr Patrick and Mr Joseph Binu held the branch doors open; Capt Jagan, Mr Rajshekar and Mr Benedict were ready to welcome any prospective students at Aurora Tanker office, while KP and Mr Chandrashekar were on duty at Aster Marine.

There were visitors from Emirates Global Aluminium and Solar Trading.

Our partners of the Malta Maritime Forum in Valletta managed to generate some interest locally and considering the size of the island, certainly did very well receiving a few queries regarding the Institute qualifications.

Among others we were approached from Focal Maritime, Medsea Shipping, Sullivan Shipping, CLdN Malta Limited (Ship Management Company).

Our Malta colleagues have already confirmed their participation to the next Open Day at the end of January 2019.
