PROBABLY THE BEST SHIPPING CONFERENCE IN 2012

  • Date Thursday, April 26, 2012
  • Venue International Maritime Organisation (IMO)
  • Duration ~ 8 hours

Overview

A bold claim indeed, so you might sniff some bias.  But a claim we'll stick to nonetheless.

Q: How often do you hear of a not-for-profit shipping conference run by shipping professionals and not conference organisers?

A: Not very.   That's right.  So this one's different right from the start.

We promise you no profit-seeking conference organisers and no boring sales pitches dressed up as speeches. We offer the opportunity to spend a day among fellow professionals and colleagues from all parts of the industry, a chance to contribute and to hear some of the leading figures in our industry.

This is a prestigious event, held every five years, by a not-for-profit alumni association which counts among its membership some of the most senior professionals in the shipping industry worldwide.  The conference will be opened by the UK Minister for Shipping (Mike Penning) and IMO Assistant Secretary General Mr Andrew Winbow.

The audience will include delegates from shipowners, insurers, oil and trading groups, law firms, ports, ship agency groups, seafarers and industry body representatives.  The format is speakers and panels.  Speeches are limited to 15 mins, focusing on allowing speakers free reign to talk about the things they know well and are passionate about.

The conference will focus on a range of critical topics facing shipping today:
·         How did we get here?
·         Riding the Storm
·         Tomorrow's World
