Canada Branch

The British Columbia Branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers was founded in Vancouver in 1961, and was the second overseas branch of the Institute after Hong Kong. After several years in hiatus , the branch was ressurected and expanded in 2005 to include members outside of British Columbia, and was re-named the Canada Branch. Vancouver still serves as the Headquarters, while Montreal has had representation since 2008.

Examinations are offered in four locations: Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and recently also Halifax. Vancouver and Montreal have an established programme of Luncheon Speakers which are open to both Institute Members and others in the local maritime community, offering topical lectures at least four or five times a year.

The Branch organises regularly seminars, social get-togethers, such as pub nights and golf tournaments, highlight industry networking.
