MARFLET MARINE: Spanish ship operator with a fleet of six chemical vessels trading worlwide

Reporting to: Chartering and Commercial operations Manager

Location: Madrid


Key Responsibilities:

The entry level trainee will work with the team to learn all Chartering and commercial operations activities including:

  • Daily reading of all incoming emails (internal and from external sources)
  • Coordinate vessel operations
  • Participate in telephone inquiries from suppliers/brokers/customers
  • Evaluation of the market trends
  • Seek and evaluate cargo and sub-time charter opportunities for our vessels
  • Seek and evaluate market tonnage required for our cargoes
  • Analyze fleet scheduling opportunities and ways to improve our positions
  • Engage in trading and fixing above possibilities
  • Learn the intricacies/skills/art of trading and charter party negotiations
  • Maintain post-fixture relationships and follow-up responsibilities of the fixture(s)
  • Further development of the Trainee's inter-personal skills as a part of the sales team
  • Develop relationships with suppliers brokers and customers

Core skills:

  • University degree
  • ICS graduate
  • The candidate needs to have a working permit in EU to be able to work in Spain
  • Strong English language skills both written and spoken is required, additional languages are considered an asset
  • Strong ability to work with numbers
  • Ability to develop new business opportunities
  • Strong team player and excellent communication skills
  • Available to work outside of regular work hours
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
