Understanding Shipping
Understanding Shipping is a nine month programme, ideal for
staff who are new to the industry and would like to attain a wider
understanding of ships, shipping and the context of the
commercial industry. The course is equally suitable for those
already employed in the industry and who are keen to acquire
additional knowledge. The course includes:
- Nine lessons with multiple choice questions marked by a
dedicated tutor
- A short written essay
- TutorShip certificate
An allocated tutor guides each student through the nine lessons
in the course book. At the end of each lesson the student is
required to complete a multiple choice test paper and a short
written answer to a test question.
At the end of the course students are marked according to the
best six out of the first eight test papers, and on a ninth test
which is designed to cover the whole course.
Students who achieve a pass may be required to attend an
interview with a member of ICS before being awarded the TutorShip
certificate "Understanding Shipping".
This course is available in Cyprus, South Africa and Australia/New
Zealand. Contact your local Distance Learning
Centre directly for enrolment details. The course is also
available online as 'Background to Shipping' - through our online
partner Coracle.
